Kabaddi Player actually killed for honour

In an interview with Waqas Gujjar’s wife and his family, it was revealed that the kabaddi player was killed for honour.

His wife stated in an interview with Anne Faisal that she married Waqas for love which her family did not like. Her marriage lasted for one and a half years only.

The family of the wife was upset with her for marrying Waqas and told her that they wanted her to marry a rich family. Upon being asked if her family was rich, she stated no, her family was a middle-class family.

Waqas’ wife stated that they eloped. She stated that even after getting married and having a child, her family still did not accept their marriage. They wished death upon her and her child. She also told that she has three brothers and a younger sister along with her mother and father when being interviewed.

Her family excluding her younger sister were the ones who planned the murder. She stated that she and Waqas were receiving threats from her family consecutively for one and a half years.

His brothers-in-law also tyrannized and attacked Waqas’ brothers and seized their land. Her family also started a legal proceeding against them and even extorted money from them. Waqas’ family did not take any legal action as the law enforcement did not intend to help them and they were left completely helpless. His wife appealed for justice and protection from the government against her husband’s murderers. She stated that Ali and Ali Chand were the sons of her uncle Shehzad, her uncle Arshad and his son Iqbal, and her aunt were all involved in the murder of her husband.

She revealed that her family stated that it was for their honor and pride. She also revealed that she was married in her maternal uncle’s house. Waqas’ family went to ask for her hand in marriage and they were insulted and kicked out of the house. She never reminisced about her family after getting married and feels like he will return to her any second. She accused her maternal uncle Saffdar that he offered 25 lakh to also get her killed and is still intent on killing her.

They want to murder her and her son but she told them that she wants justice. Faisal also interviewed Waqas’ sisters and they stated that their paternal aunt insulted and kicked them out of the house when they went to ask for a hand in marriage for their brother. They also made a case against them with the local police. They told that they suffered so much but the law enforcement did not listen to them and did not provide any protection for their brother. And now that their brother is killed, the police have come to them to file a case.

His sisters stated that it was his brother-in-law who shot at Waqas during a kabaddi match. He was shot in the neck and died on the way to the hospital. Waqas’ family is asking for justice and to provide them protection.
