Fake Pakistan Army Colonel Caught: Arrested for Extorting Millions of Rupees from Unsuspecting Citizens

Pakistan Rangers, in Sindh, announced the apprehension of an individual suspected of posing as a military officer to engage in criminal activities in Karachi.

The alleged imposter, identified as Irfan Ahmed by the Rangers spokesperson, was apprehended in an intelligence-driven operation jointly conducted by the paramilitary force and police in the Boat Basin area.

The spokesperson revealed that the detained individual, residing in Moosa Lane, Lyari, would masquerade as a colonel affiliated with a sensitive agency. Using counterfeit credentials, he reportedly duped people by promising them admission to medical colleges, job placements, and even academic degrees from various institutions in exchange for substantial sums of money.

The paramilitary force disclosed the seizure of fake identification from the sensitive agency, a uniform, and counterfeit documents from different institutions in his possession. Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.

This incident follows a similar case in February of the previous year, where a person was apprehended in the Defence Housing Authority for falsely presenting himself as a journalist, carrying multiple cards from media organizations. Subsequent investigations revealed that he was a fraudulent media representative.
