ATC Grants Three-Day Remand for Suspects in Ichhra Bazaar Harassment Case

In Lahore, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) ordered the remand of three suspects into police custody regarding their alleged involvement in the harassment of a woman at Ichhra Bazaar.

The suspects, identified as Muhammad Nadeem, Adil Sarwar, and Altimash Saqlain, were presented before the court by the Ichhra police, who requested a 14-day physical remand.

According to the investigating officer, the suspects are accused of harassing the woman and inciting others to harm her. The officer stated that the custody of the suspects is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation and identify any potential accomplices.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed granted a three-day physical remand for the suspects and instructed the police to present them again on March 20 for further proceedings.

The incident in question occurred when a woman wearing a shirt with Arabic calligraphy print faced accusations of blasphemy from a group of religiously charged individuals at Ichhra Bazaar. Despite the mob’s threats against her life, the timely intervention of a police team, led by ASP Sheharbano Naqvi, ensured the woman’s safety as she was rescued and taken to a nearby police station.
