The Sindh Home Department has given the police permission to locate Dua Zehra and apprehend her ‘husband’, Zaheer Ahmed, in the purported kidnapping case.
Dua Zehra, a teenage girl, disappeared from her Karachi home on April 16. In Lahore, she later made a comeback and announced her engagement to Zaheer. The anti-violent crime cell (AVCC) has been given directions by the home department in a letter for the recovery of Dua and the arrest of Zaheer Ahmed in the kidnapping case.
According to the government directive, the in-charge police party should acquire transit remand from court after arrests. The letter stated to be attentive to human rights when moving the accused and the abducted to Karachi. The letter states that the officer in charge shall also take care that no person from the opposite party goes with the accused. With permission from the Punjab home department, Dua Zehra will be transported to Karachi after she has recovered.
Zaheer Ahmed’s presence in Karachi was confirmed on April 16, the day of the incident involving the kidnapping, according to information provided to the court on Saturday by the investigating officer for the Dua Zehra case. In a status report provided to the court, the IO claimed that the CDR record had been preserved. Accused Zaheer Ahmed was in Karachi on April 16.
They have a compelling case against the defendant following the CDR. According to the IO’s progress report, the defendant’s case will be presented before the court. The police asked for the judge’s approval to keep provisions concerning underage marriage in the case. According to the report, authorization to bring Dua Zehra back from Punjab has been requested from the Sindh government.
Taking into account her physical appearance, Dua Zehra is between the ages of 14 and 15 years old, according to a report by a medical panel convened to assess her age, while her age as established by her teeth is between the ages of 13 and 15. The bone ossification test, however, determined that she was between 16 and 17 years old. The child is between the ages of 15 and 16, according to the report’s conclusion, which was reached following a discussion among medical professionals about a number of factors determining her age. The chairman and the other 10 members of the medical board all signed the report.
According to IO, he requested permission from his superiors to file a charge sheet against the suspects under Section 363 (Punishment for Kidnapping) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) read with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013 (SCMRA). He claimed that he had also asked for permission to go to Punjab in order to detain Zaheer Ahmed and seize Dua Zehra from his care. On July 19, when he would hear arguments on the application, the judge postponed the case.
