School, College, University Students to undergo Drug Test in Peshawar

In Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, drug testing will be administered in all public and private schools, colleges, and institutions.

Starting in September, pupils will be subjected to drug tests. The students will be asked to take the test freely in the first phase, and then all students will be required to do so in the second phase. Since today’s young are addicted to ice and drugs with new names, this program seeks to rid educational institutions of the scourge of addiction, according to Peshawar Division Commissioner Riyaz.

The commissioner stated that he is conducting his first exam so that all parents and pupils may realize the gravity of this campaign. This screening would be conducted in Peshawar in the initial phase before moving on to the Khyber district. The Health Department and the Education Department will provide assistance for the test in educational institutions. He stated that the results of the drug tests will remain private. Peshawar drug-free campaign started on May 25, under which we have picked up 1200 drug addicts from the streets and admitted them to rehabilitation centers, says the campaign’s website. If a student’s report is positive, his parents will be called and work will be started on his rehabilitation.

On August 25, he stated, those struggling with addiction would be returned home. In the second round, a campaign targeting educational institutions will launch in September. According to Shaista Naz, program manager and consultant for the Dost Mahabhatyan Foundation, this Peshawar administrative action is admirable.

Our biggest success will be putting an end to addiction in school settings. He claimed that, aside from alcohol, all other drugs are detectable in a dope test. If the report is negative and more days have elapsed since the addiction, then. Shaista Naz asserts that the success of the testing procedure depends on parental and school administration approval.

Students will volunteer for screening if teachers voluntarily participate in this procedure. The names and identities of the impacted students should be kept a secret when the report is released so they can receive treatment without being made public. Student Nauman responded to the Peshawar Commissioner’s decision by telling Urdu News that the judgment about the drug test is excellent. Our classmates include some drug users. It will be wonderful if they receive treatment. Another private college student criticized the choice and claimed that if the parents learned about the students’ addiction, the situation in the home may deteriorate. It is believed that no one will be held accountable if the test results are inaccurate and the student does not even use drugs. The teen went on to say that the screening exam is not as good as the commissioner and police taking action against the drug suppliers.
