Pakistan Honors Babar Azam with Top Civil Award

In recognition of his outstanding services to Pakistan’s cricket as captain and a top batter, Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, will receive the prestigious civil award.

Babar Azam, a 28-year-old cricket player, will get Sitara-e-Imtiaz, making him the sport’s youngest recipient and showcasing his tremendous accomplishments. The Sitara-e-Imtiaz award ceremony date has now been confirmed by the Pakistani government, who had earlier indicated that Babar would receive it. On March 23, 2023, Pakistan Day festivities will take place, and the award will be given out on that day.

The right-hand batter won’t be playing in the series against Afghanistan, which is set to begin on March 24, so he will take a break from playing cricket to attend the ceremony. This distinction is a testimonial to Babar Azam’s commitment and effort in the game of cricket, where he has established himself as a role model for young players. The Pakistani government has also awarded the renowned Sitara-e-Imtiaz title to several other outstanding cricketers from Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that four previous captains—Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, and Sarfaraz Ahmed—were each given this nation’s third-highest civil honor for their extraordinary services to cricket.

Shaheen Afridi Has Been Nominated For ICC Men’s Player of the Month

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz award for outstanding athletic accomplishments had only been given to four other cricket players before them. They include Javed Miandad in 1992, Inzamam ul Haq in 2005, Mohammad Yousuf in 2011, and Saeed Ajmal in 2015. The youngest cricketer from Pakistan to get the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award in the past was Sarfaraz Ahmed, a former captain.
