New York Set to Host Epic Clash Between Pakistan and India Match in 2024 T20 World Cup

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in the United States and the West Indies the following summer, with 20 teams competing for the coveted title. The qualifying teams will undergo a preliminary round, divided into four groups of five teams each.

In the Super 8 stage, it will also be split into two groups comprising four teams each, with the top two teams from each group vying for victory. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the semi-finals, where they will vie for the championship. Every significant cricket competition is deemed incomplete without a game featuring the longstanding adversaries, Pakistan and India, whose rivalry is widely acknowledged as one of the sport’s most pivotal.

As they have done in the past, these two teams will once again face off in the T20 World Cup in 2024. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to shortly announce the location for this highly anticipated match between the bitter rivals, as reported by Cricbuzz on Wednesday. The venue is expected to be constructed near Long Island, around 30 miles east of Manhattan, in Eisenhower Park, New York.  The announcement will be made after the discussions between the ICC and New York City authorities conclude. Originally, the ICC had intended to construct the stadium in the Bronx. However, they changed their plans after encountering strong opposition from locals residing near the park and a cricket league headquartered in the same area.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan last faced India in an ICC-sanctioned competition during the T20 World Cup in 2022 at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground, where Virat Kohli delivered one of the tournament’s most memorable centuries to lead the underdog Blues to victory.

Revised Format and Location of the 2024 T20 World Cup Revealed By ICC

Before that, the two teams clashed at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium during the T20 World Cup 2021. Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, became the first team to defeat India in an ICC-organized competition, thanks to an incredible ten-wicket victory.
