Masjid Wazir Khan Case: Saba Qamar, Bilal Saeed get a happy ending

Judge Muhammad Mushtaq in Lahore accepted the acquittal pleas of singer Bilal Saeed and actor Saba Qamar in the matter of alleged desecration of Wazir Khan mosque on Monday.

The acquittal plea argued that claimants brought the lawsuit simply to blackmail defendants Bilal Saeed and Saba Qamar as no dance scene was recorded in the mosque paresis.

According to the pleas, they acquired authorization from the Auqaf Department to film the ‘Qabool Hay’ song shoot, and no witnesses objected to the song being shot in the mosque.

Advocate Farhat Manzoor Chandio, the complainant, said that the criminals defiled the sanctity of the mosque with their activities, which also generated public outcry.

Both defendants should be acquitted, it was argued, because the claimant’s lawyer, Farhat Manzoor Chandio, was not present when the filming was rerecorded and there was no evidence of a violation of the mosque’s sanctity.

Bilal Saeed had previously been arrested on bailable warrants for failing to appear in court in a case of suspected desecration of the Wazir Khan mosque alongside his co-accused local actress Saba Qamar.

Both defendants had requested a personal appearance exemption.

According to the accused’s lawyer, Saeed had gone to the UAE for work responsibilities and would return by March 31, and was unable to present due to illness.

According to a prosecutor, no medical certificate was produced on Saeed’s behalf, and Saba Qamar fled the country without the court’s authorization.

The accused, he said, concealed their faces in order to escape being charged. At the most recent session, the magistrate dismissed both accused’s acquittal applications.

Following a court order to act on a lawyer’s motion in accordance with the law and determine whether a cognizable offence had been proven, Akbari Gate police filed an FIR under section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the duo (PPC).

This section deals with the crime of harming or defiling a place of worship with the goal to offend the religion of any class.
