After drawing immense flak Maryam Nawaz apologises, deletes tweet about death of Arshad Sharif

Maryam Nawaz received immense backlash on Twitter after posting a puzzling and insulting message about the loss of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif.

After hours of criticism online and on TV, Maryam deleted the tweet and tweeted an apology.

She shared a picture of Arshad Sharif’s coffin being wrapped in ropes on the runway of the airport and being flown by Qatar Airways to Pakistan. “I don’t feel good RTing this but this is a lesson for mankind that we must all imbibe,” she wrote beside the photo when she posted it online.

Maryam Nawaz’s tweet about Arshad Sharif’s demise has drawn harsh criticism from social media users who call it “insensitive” and unsettling.

People are demanding she take down the tweet. She sent out a tweet that prominent journalists like Nasim Zehra and Ansar Abbasi described as “ill-timed.” They instructed her to keep quiet about the situation.

A few hours after Arshad Sharif was murdered, the PMLN came under fire for sharing a video of cake-cutting at Diwali celebrations online. Arshad Sharif, a distinguished journalist, was shot dead in Kenya, and his remains will arrive in Islamabad on October 26 at 1:05 a.m. According to information provided to the media on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the late Arshad Sharif’s body was flown by Qatar Airways aircraft QR1342 from Nairobi to Doha at 0125 on Tuesday.

The arrangements being made at Nairobi Airport for the body’s return were examined by Saqlain Syeda, Pakistan’s high commissioner to Kenya. In a Monday phone chat with Kenyan President William Ruto, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for an impartial and fair investigation into the assassination of senior journalist Arshad Sharif. While discussing the unfortunate occurrence with the president of Kenya, the prime minister also expressed the nation and media Pakistan’s grave concerns. In addition, he requested that the Kenyan president hurry forward with the filing of the appropriate papers to return the bodies of the dead journalists to Pakistan.

Breakfast show host Shiffa Z. Yousafzai tweeted that she is not at all surprised to hear this from her. It makes sense that she wanted to celebrate Deewali after the most valuable asset of the nation you claim can only be ruled by “hum hukumraan khaandan” was gone.

Analyst and columnist Khawar Ghumman tweeted I wish you shouldn’t have RT this one.

Sara Taseer tweeted that Maryam Nawaz wins the challenge to show my assumption that she can sink any lower. Big applause for being a part of the gutter depths.

Pakistan’s most prominent journalist Ansar Abbasi tweeted that it was an unethical and ill-timed tweet.

Former PTI MNA Maleeka Ali Bokhari tweeted you certainly represent the worst aspects of humanity! Utterly filthy and sick. Mocking a deceased man who was brutally & sarcastically murdered.

Journalist Arshad Sharif Shot Dead in Kenya

You proved that you are inhumane when we believed you couldn’t possibly be any more terrible. Wait for your Karma, you and your family harassed him.
