Journalist Arshad Sharif Shot Dead in Kenya

The disclosure was made early on Monday by Javeria Siddique, the journalist Arshad Sharif’s wife.

Arshad Sharif allegedly killed himself by shooting in Kenya. She said, “Today, I lost my spouse, best friend, and favorite journalist.

He was shot in Kenya, the police said.” The Pakistani High Commissioner to Kenya, along with other officials, showed up at the Chiromo Funeral House in Nairobi, where she identified Sharif’s body and verified the journalist’s passing, according to the Foreign Office. The statement stated that other steps, such as the police complaint, are pending. The High Commission, according to the Foreign Office, would facilitate the speedy return of Sharif’s body to Pakistan, and the family of the journalist had been assured of every support.

The journalist’s assassination is still under investigation, and its circumstances are unknown. Initially stating that Sharif had been shot at, some Pakistani media outlets later asserted he had passed away accidentally. Sharif’s spouse tweeted later that he had been shot to death. While this was going on, local authorities were quoted by Kenyan media as saying Sharif was slain by police in a case of “mistaken identification.” The report states that the incident occurred on Sunday night close to the Nairobi-Magadi highway. After sedition investigations were brought against him in several locations, Sharif, a vociferous critic of the country’s military establishment and the present government, left Pakistan earlier this year.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, was informed of the incident, according to Aurangzeb, and instructed the interior and foreign ministries to complete all formalities as quickly as possible and to begin an “end-to-end probe” into the murder. Our ambassador to Kenya, Saeeda Saqlain, went to the mortuary where the body had been discovered on the premier’s orders. A statement of introduction will be made by the Kenyan government. The minister went on to announce that the Foreign Office has been given the go-ahead to arrange for the shipment of Sharif’s body from Kenya. She also provided advice to the media on how to investigate the matter and how to stop circulating erroneous information. This goes beyond politics. Discreet politics are not appropriate here. Consider the victim’s relatives as well as the person whose life was lost.

Athar Minallah, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), received a request for an investigation into Sharif’s death and promptly demanded a discussion with the journalist’s family. The court also sent notifications to the federal and interior secretaries. You can read a copy of Advocate Shoaib Razzaq’s petition on Dawn.com, in which he requests that the court form a judicial committee to investigate the journalist’s forcible escape from Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates. In the appeal, it was further requested that the judicial committee be given the authority to direct national and Kenyan agencies to work together to coordinate an investigation into the heinous crime that led to the unlawful cold-blooded murder of Arshad Sharif. In addition, it pleaded with the court to mandate that the journalist’s body be transported to Pakistan.
