Man Detained After Marrying Five Women and Extorting Them

Karnati Satish Babu, a 47-year-old NRI software engineer also known as Sathish Kumar, was detained by the police on suspicion of seducing and marrying five women in the State.

According to the authorities, Satish and his parents resided in Guntupalli in Vijayawada and were originally from the Krosuru Mandal of Guntur. He was a Green Card holder and employed by a software company in Washington, DC.

The police responded to a complaint made by Sri Lakshmi, a victim from the Guntur district of Ravindranagar, who had wed the suspect on June 16. The victim had witnessed him conversing on the phone with Lavanya. To her horror, he revealed that he was also married to Lavanya when she questioned him. However, the accused informed her that he had recorded indecent recordings of her and threatened to post them online when she mentioned that she might call the police. He even stole Rs. 10 lakh from her before beginning tormenting her physically and psychologically. On Tuesday, she finally complained to the Guntur Disha police.

She informed the police that Satish and Sri Lakshmi had relocated to Hyderabad following their wedding and were now residing in a rental home in the KBHP complex. Additionally, Satish had requested that she apply for an 80 lakh rupee home loan. The police opened an investigation after receiving the complaint and registering a case.

Satish confessed to having wed four women before Sri Lakshmi during the interrogation. It’s interesting to note that Satish Babu’s parents attended each of these weddings, and the Disha police also detained his father. In addition, he disclosed to the police that he had separated from his third wife in 2020 and his first wife in 2017. In 2019 his third wife filed a police report, and in 2021 his fourth wife did the same after learning that he had married them both without first obtaining a divorce from his previous relationships.

They were brought before the court by Guntur Disha police, who were then sentenced to 14 days of judicial remand. The police are also looking into whether the accused had cheated on several women and engaged in extortion, as well as the roles of a few key players in those marriages.

It is said that the police have petitioned to have Satish Babu’s passport taken because he held a Green Card. This is the second such case to be reported in the Telugu states; the first was reported last week and included a man who was allegedly caught after cheating on 13 women in the Telugu States over four years.
