Man arrested for Performing Umrah for Queen Elizabeth II

A man in Saudi Arabia who performed Umrah on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II was arrested reported media.

He was seen holding a banner that read May Allah grant her a place in heaven and keep her among the pious people. The video became viral on social media and the man has received severe backlash from the Muslim communities. Even if the deceased was the parent or mother of a prophet or a messenger of Allah, performing Umrah and dedicating the rewards for them is forbidden for Muslims. Because he lacks the intention and knowledge of Islam, the acts of worship performed by or on behalf of a non-Muslim are not acceptable. The fundamental requirement for accepting acts of worship is that the person doing the act must be a Muslim and have the intention to carry it out.

Netizens took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Twitter user @Ahajrizzii shared a verse of the Holy Quran “And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.” Surah al Furqan.

Another Twitter user @sameerfaizan tweeted that they will soon start raising money for the Dajjal (kazzab) eye operation.

The man was detained by the Saudi authorities. Saudi Arabia prohibits Makkah pilgrims from reciting slogans or carrying banners.

And while doing Umrah on behalf of Muslims who have passed away is acceptable, this rule does not apply to non-Muslims like the queen, who served as the head of the Church of England, the body that founded the Anglican Communion worldwide.

According to a statement broadcast by official media late Monday, security personnel at the Grand Mosque arrested a citizen of Yemeni nationality who appeared in a video clip waving a banner inside the Grand Mosque, breaking the regulations and guidelines for Umrah. He was arrested, legal action was initiated against him, and he was referred to the public prosecution, but the banner was hidden on state media reports of the incident that included the controversial video footage. The Umrah is a pilgrimage that can be conducted at any time, unlike the Hajj, which is an annual event that frequently gathers millions of people from around the world.
