Kamran Akmal Declares Retirement from All Forms of Cricket

The seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Akmal stated at a news conference in the port city that he is now concentrating on taking on new responsibilities inside the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Kamran, who was appointed to the national men’s selection committee along with Yasir Hameed and Mohammad Sami with Haroon Rashid as chairman, stated, “Obviously, I will not be playing cricket anymore due to new positions in PCB.” In a new job that the PCB has given him, he said, “I will play in little leagues, but that also depends on my obligations.”

Kamran also refrained from assigning blame for his exclusion from cricket to anyone who came before him.

The right-hander was not selected in the players’ draft for the eighth edition despite having the second-highest career run total in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 1,972 runs in 74 innings. He’s been helping the Peshawar Zalmi bat for a week as a batting mentor. In 53 Tests, 157 ODIs, and 58 T20 Internationals, the hitter has played for Pakistan. His most recent international game was in the West Indies in 2017.

Earlier, Umar Akmal had high hopes for his brother Kamran’s performance in the role of selecting the national men’s squad. Speaking on Saturday to Geosuper.tv, Umar asserted that Kamran is a knowledgeable cricket player who will give all players a fair go. Kamran has always been polite, not just to me but to all the cricket players.

He said, “He’s a teacher to everyone. He’ll give players fair chances, I’m certain of that. He continued, “I wish him luck. In the meantime, former captain Shahid Afridi supported PCB’s choice to choose Kamran as head of the committee responsible for choosing players in trials for the U13, U16, and U19 regional and district teams.

Kamran Akmal Appointed As Peshawar Zalmi – Head Coach

In an interview with a local television station, Afridi claimed Akmal is a suitable candidate for a junior-level selector. “Kamran is a trustworthy and diligent individual. He seems like a great pick for choosing junior-level athletes, in my opinion. He is fearless and will not buckle under pressure while choosing the players,” he declared.
