India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 tickets Sold Out in under 5 Minutes

Thousands of seats were sold out within five minutes of the opening of ticket sales for the eagerly anticipated India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match in Australia, which was scheduled for almost a month beforehand.

According to ICC, the extra standing room tickets were also sold out in a matter of minutes. On October 23, a Super 12 match will be placed at the venerable Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) between India and its bitter nemesis Pakistan. For cricket matches, the MCG can accommodate more than 90,000 spectators. A few tickets are still available for purchase, albeit, closer to the event dates. For fans to exchange tickets at face value, an official resale site will be introduced closer to the tournament, according to the ICC.

In case more tickets become available, “fans are encouraged to join the waitlist,” the ICC stated. The premier competition, which will begin on October 16 and end with a final on November 13 at the MCG, will feature a total of 16 teams. The stadiums would be filled for the first time for an ICC tournament since 2020. According to the ICC, one of the key reasons for this enthusiasm for ticket purchases is the reasonable pricing for families, which has resulted in the sale of almost 85,000 tickets for kids. For all First Round and Super 12 matches, tickets for children cost just $5, while prices for adult tickets begin at $20.

The ICC reported that many further games had already sold out for the major event, which begins with qualifications on October 16. Additionally, all seats for the October 27 doubleheader at the SCG, which pits South Africa against Bangladesh and pits India against the Group A runner-up, have been sold out. ICC advised fans to join the waitlist in case more tickets become available. India’s 15-man team, captained by Rohit Sharma, has already been revealed for the competition. India’s lineup includes Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, both of whom have regained their fitness. Mohammad Shami, a seasoned pacer, is one of the tournament’s four reserve players, though.

Fans from 82 different nations have bought tickets to watch the world’s best players from 16 international teams, the statement continued. Since the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020, which reached its peak with 86,174 spectators for the final at the MCG, full stadiums haven’t been seen for ICC events.

According to the ICC, there aren’t many seats left for the following matches: Pakistan vs. South Africa at the SCG on November 3, India vs. South Africa at Perth Stadium on October 30, and Australia’s Super 12 opener against New Zealand at the SCG on October 22.
