Four Pakistani Students studying in Afghanistan missing

Since the first day of Eid ul Azha four Pakistani students enrolled at two different universities in Kabul have reportedly vanished.

According to Geo News, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Resource Development has contacted Kabul’s officials on the location of the missing students. Sajid Hussain Turi, the federal minister for overseas Pakistan and human resource development, is also aware of the situation and has made contact with the Afghan government, the ministry of foreign affairs, and other relevant agencies to arrange for the return of the students.

Turi added that they have called the Afghan authorities and requested that they make every effort to secure the safe return of Pakistani students as soon as possible. He also added that Pakistani authorities are very worried about the students’ absence and reassured their parents that their children would soon be found.

In November 2020, a more horrible tragedy occurred at Kabul University. Afghan security forces and armed attackers engaged in a six-hour battle at Kabul University that ended with up to 19 fatalities and 22 injuries, according to the interior ministry of the nation. According to the ministry, there were three people involved in the attack, of whom two were killed in a gunfight and one was a suicide bomber.

According to Tolo News, which cited sources, at least three attackers entered Kabul University. The attack occurred as numerous senior government officials were scheduled to attend the inauguration of an Iranian book expo. Students managed to evacuate the campus by scaling the border walls. When law enforcement arrived on the scene of the incident, all access roads to the institution were blocked and the area was sealed off. The Taliban said they were not involved, but throughout the years, extremist organizations like Daesh have assaulted several educational institutions.

Teachers and pupils, according to eyewitness reports, have left the property. According to Hamid Obaidi, a representative for the ministry of higher education, gunshots were being heard from inside the university.

Students who saw the attack described it as being chaotic and confusing when the shooting broke out. According to Fraidoon Ahmadi, 23, they were studying in their classes when suddenly they heard a volley of gunfire inside the campus. Everything was chaotic and students were afraid. He stated that he has no words to convey how they escaped the attack by gunmen on their institution, noting that the social sciences faculty itself had roughly 800 students.
