Eid-ul-Azha: Government Announces 5 Holidays

In contrast to the cabinet division’s suggestion for a three-day holiday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a five-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Azha from July 8 to July 12 (Friday to Tuesday) on Sunday.

The cabinet secretary was instructed to proceed with the premier’s permission, according to a letter released by the PM Office. An earlier summary of the Eid holidays had been sent to the PM’s Office by the Cabinet Division.

According to Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, the head of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Eid-ul-Azha will be observed nationwide on July 10 (Sunday). One of the two Eid holidays, Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is observed by Muslims to remember Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to offer his son as a sacrifice to God.

Traditionally celebrated with the slaughter of animals, whose meat is distributed to family members and the homeless. For the duration of the three days of Eid, the devout sacrifice their animals in honor of Prophet Ibrahim’s custom.

In the meantime, the cost of sacrificed animals has increased in advance of Eid-ul-Azha, forcing many would-be purchasers to go home empty-handed. The devaluation of the rupee and the rise in the price of petroleum products are thought to be the causes of the price increase.

Potential customers are being forced to use the “wait and see” tactic because of the exorbitant pricing in order to receive the animal of their choice. In an effort to draw clients, cow sellers have begun to bring animals to the cattle markets and can be seen roaming the streets.
