ISLAMABAD: As a number of journalists and politicians claim that PML-N leadership is behind the alleged lewd video of Maryam Nawaz spokesperson Zubair Umar, Avari hotel also breaks silence about the controversy as it raises a number of questions.
Netizens go bananas following the footage, in which ‘PML-N leader’ can be seen having an intimate moment with an unidentified woman, while the clip was said to be recorded and later doctored in one of the rooms of a 5-star accommodation facility.
A statement issued by Pakistani international hospitality management company cited “The Avari family, Avari Hotels, its executives and team members wish to clarify that there are no hidden cameras placed in the rooms in their direct or indirect knowledge”.

It further added, “If something was caught by an in-room camera, it was illegally placed, unknown to us and does not have our consent. Avari group never promotes spying or breaking the privacy of its guests, clients”.
With all kinds of assumptions amid the recent conundrum, a number of social media users also claimed that the leading opposition party members shot the clip with some hidden equipment while the majority, including the victim of video leak, termed the event doctored and shameful.
Zubair in a recent tweet said, “Whoever is behind this has done an extremely poor and shameful act. I have served my country with honesty, integrity, and commitment and will continue to raise my voice for the betterment of Pakistan”.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader and former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah also responded to the controversy referring to former accountability judge Arshad Malik’s leaked clip which led to his death.
Lamenting at the leak culture, he said “people have families, and these events disturbed them for the rest of their lives” however he clarified, “I don’t know whether the clip is original or doctored, but the people who have released the video should come forth and shed more light about it.”
The recent controversy sparked a heated debate about the leak culture and as people exchanged information about their respective areas, the confusion gave way to characteristic Pakistani humor as desi trolls started sharing rib-tickling memes.
