Arshad Nadeem undergoes Elbow Operation in London

Arshad Nadeem underwent elbow surgery in London on Sunday after his record-breaking throw in the javelin final of the most recent Commonwealth Games earned Pakistan its first track and field medal in 56 years.

According to a Geo News report, the surgery was carried out by Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, who expressed his confidence in Mr. Nadeem’s full recovery in a video message. Mr. Nadeem, who entered the July-August games as one of Pakistan’s top medal prospects, had two injuries but is now making a full recovery, according to Dr. Bajwa. He is pleased and satisfied that the surgery’s intended outcome was attained. Dr. Bajwa added that the surgery was performed in cutting-edge facilities and that the 25-year-old Mian Channu javelin thrower has proven to be “a warrior and a champion”.

Mr. Nadeem is scheduled to undergo a week of therapy with Dr. Bajwa and his staff before going home to complete the remainder of his recovery under the supervision of his coach Salman Butt. With his massive 90.18-meter javelin throw, Mr. Nadeem beat Jalal Khan’s 1958 second-place result and Mohammad Nawaz’s 1954 silver at the quadrennial multi-sport event to win Pakistan its first javelin gold and an athletics medal at the Games since 1966. Mr. Nadeem’s chances of winning the competition were poor because he was competing without a coach and had an injured throwing elbow that was extensively wrapped.

Commonwealth Games: Arshad to Directly Compete in Javelin Throw Finals

He was tenacious and unwavering in his resolve to honor his nation. In the match on August 8 against former Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott, former Commonwealth and world champion Julius Yego, and world champion Anderson Peters, Mr. Nadeem emerged victorious. After Nooh Dasagir Butt won the +105kg weightlifting competition on August 4, he became the second Pakistani to earn a gold medal at the Games. On the same day, Shah Hussain earned a bronze medal in judo. On Twitter, people were pleased about Mr. Nadeem’s victory. One of his many supporters was cricket captain Babar Azam, who said, “Jism toota howa tha per himmat Himalaya se bhi buland thi [His courage was larger than the Himalayas]”
