Woman kills herself while cleaning husband’s pistol

A woman in the Punjab province’s Gujranwala district accidently shot herself to death while cleaning her husband’s weapon.

According to authorities, the woman was apparently cleaning her husband’s pistol when it accidentally went off, killing her.

While police roped off the area to collect evidence, the body was transferred to a neighbouring hospital for medico-legal formalities. “We’re looking into the situation from every angle,” police said.

It’s worth noting that in the past, situations of unintentional fatalities have turned out to be murders committed by close relatives.

According to the authorities, in a similar act, the fire that killed two children and their mother in Karachi’s Jamshed Quarters was a premeditated murder.

The fire at a residence in Bijli Nagar, according to police, was an arson attack carried out by the family’s patriarch, Junaid, in order to marry a woman in Malaysia.

The fire in the property started owing to an electricity short circuit, according to a previous report. Shumaila, Junaid’s wife, 35, her 11-year-old son Sufiyan, and her 5-year-old daughter Hunaiza were among the victims.

Junaid, who had been working in Malaysia and had returned to Pakistan on March 16, was apprehended by the police.

According to the police, the accused had surreptitiously returned to Pakistan and phoned his wife on March 22 night. According to authorities, he asked his wife Shumaila to keep his return a secret and promised her that he would take her and their children to Malaysia without anybody knowing.

The accused claimed to have returned to Pakistan after the tragedy, but the inquiry revealed that he had returned on March 16 and was in Pakistan previous to the tragic fire.
