Woman Dies After Consuming Maggi laced with Rat Poison

Unfortunate circumstances resulted in the death of a woman in her late 20s who ate poisoned tomatoes by accident.

Rekha Nishad, a 27-year-old inhabitant of Mumbai’s Malad neighborhood, added tomatoes to her Maggi noodles, having forgotten that rat poison was present in them, causing her to throw up hours after eating the dish and ultimately leading to her demise. Musa Devarshi, a sub-inspector of the Malvani Police, claimed that she accidentally put the tomato in her lunch while watching television. After finishing her lunch, she started throwing up hours later. She was driven to the closest hospital by her husband and brother-in-law. The patient passed away on Wednesday while being treated at the hospital.

The woman was admitted to the hospital in severe condition, and hospital workers immediately informed the local police of the occurrence. Officers then went to the hospital and recorded the woman’s statement, according to a report in Indian Express. The officers visited the hospital and took down her statement after learning about the occurrence from the hospital. Shekhar Bhalerao, a senior inspector at the Malwani Police Station, stated that the woman had been receiving treatment at the hospital for a week.

Bhalerao revealed that Nishad denied any wrongdoing in the event and explained how she accidentally ate the poisoned tomatoes while watching television and mixing them into her noodles. They investigated the case thoroughly, and there was no evidence of foul play in the woman’s untimely death. As a result, an ADR (Accidental Death Report) was filed on Wednesday, according to Bhalerao. The woman took odd jobs to support herself while living with her husband and brother-in-law.

A police officer claims that there was no criminal activity. A report of an unintended fatality has surfaced. The National Crime Records Bureau reports that the number of ‘accidental deaths’ exceeds the national average of 32.6 per 100,000 persons in 17 States and Union Territories (NCRB). In India, there were 3, 74,397 unintentional fatalities in 2020, with automobile, crashes accounting for more than 35% of these deaths, according to government statistics. However, incidents when someone accidentally kills himself due to negligence are quite uncommon.

In a tragedy in July 2013, after having lunch at a school in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, at least 22 children died and many more became unwell. The poisoning happened in the Dharmasati Gandaman town, which is located 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Patna, the state capital. The free Mid-Day Meal Program, which attempts to fight hunger and increase school attendance, had poor hygiene. At least four police vehicles were set on fire during rallies against the deaths that angry parents joined.

Poison that causes heart attack, which toxin was Khan talking about at his Jalsa?

The relatives of the deceased have each been handed 200,000 rupees ($3,370) in compensation, and an investigation has been launched. Following the event, 28 sick children were transported to hospitals in the adjacent town of Chhapra before being transferred to Patna. Tuesday after eating the free lunch, a total of 47 elementary school children became ill.
