According to ARY News, a mother in Karachi’s Liaquatabad neighborhood tossed a newborn child from a multi-story building to her death.

Details indicate that the police detained a woman after she reportedly threw her newborn child from the sixth story of a building in Karachi’s Liaquatabad neighborhood. In a statement, the police claimed they were questioning the woman, who had been arrested because her “mental stability is uncertain.” They continued by stating that neighbors had witnessed the mother, whom the authorities claim is also a “drug addict,” hurl her child from the sixth floor.

In the statement, the police also mentioned that “the woman will also be seen by a psychiatrist.” It is important to note that there have been numerous stories of women killing themselves due to stress in various sections of the nation. In one such occurrence in 2021, a woman in Karachi leaped off a six-story building with a young girl when it was discovered that she had been imprisoned in a room by her family due to drug addiction. A woman in her early 30s and a 2-year-old toddler leaped off a building from the sixth floor of a building in Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 13-D of the city, according to the police.

Eyewitnesses described the incident, stating that the woman initially hurled her phone from the sixth story, drawing attention from onlookers. She later flung the young child outside, where she was apprehended by onlookers. She attempted to descend from the balcony, but as she did so, she slipped off the building, according to eyewitnesses. They had gathered outside the building to try to stop her from jumping off the sixth floor.
