The news of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai’s tying the knot comes as a surprise to all and sundry especially to Pakistanis who are busy in cricket frenzy these days.

Congratulatory messages continued pouring in for the new bride from all over the world.

Yousafzai has got her Nikkah done with Asser Malik at a ceremony in Birmingham, UK. In a tweet, the young activist termed her marriage a “precious day” in her life.

She urged everyone to send prayers for her happily married life. She went on to say that they are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.

The 24-year-old activist came a long way since coming under attack by the Taliban for raising her voice for the right of girls’ education in 2012. She survived the assault in Swat valley of Pakistan.

Following the incident, she and her family resettled in Birmingham. At the age of 17, she became the youngest person in the world to bag the coveted Nobel Peace Prize. Later, she pursued her education at Oxford University and also became a human rights activist.
