We have some exciting news for Marvel lovers. The teaser for Ms Marvel, the upcoming Disney+ series about a Pakistani-American superhero, has finally been revealed, and it is a joy to see. From June 8, the show will be available to stream on Disney+.
The trailer debuted on March 15 and features actor Iman Vellani as 16-year-old Kamala Khan from Jersey City, who is described as “an aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe” who rises to become a superhero who battles the challenges that come with being a high school student in America. Nimra Bucha, a Pakistani actress, was also included in the trailer.

Khan’s Pakistani roots are evident throughout the teaser in a variety of ways. She can be seen wearing a shalwar kameez and busting out some desi dancing routines on occasion. Ms. Marvel is also Marvel’s first Muslim female superhero, which the trailer emphasises. Khan is seen praying at the masjid with several ladies in one stunning scene.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, an Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker, collaborated with Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi, and Bilall Fallah to direct the series. She said she couldn’t be “more proud of the tale we’re telling and the message we’re sending out into the world” as she shared the trailer on social media.

“Having just emerged from a year and a half of working on Ms Marvel, I cannot wait to share her story with the world — I know many young girls will see a reflection of themselves in her!” Obaid-Chinoy added.
Fawad Khan, the heartthrob, is also believed to have a role in the series, but Khan’s side has not verified. If confirmed, the actor might appear with Bucha in the film’s cast.
