Watch: Main accused arrested in medical student torture case Faisalabad

The main Culprits involved in the medical student torture case have been arrested according to authorities.

Following her rejection of a marriage proposal in Faisalabad, a female student was allegedly kidnapped, sexually harassed, and filmed by men.

After declining a marriage proposal, a female student in Faisalabad allegedly experienced harassment and kidnapping. The accused males brought the girl against her will from the University Town neighborhood to their house. The accused then cut the girl’s hair and recorded the torture sessions as they took place, subjecting the victim to barbaric torture.

In her police complaint, the female student claimed that the primary suspect, Danish, had kidnapped her and her brother Hassan after she refused to wed him. In addition to recording a video of her being harassed sexually, she said Danish had also threatened to make the footage popular on social media if she did not pay her Rs 1 million. Following the victim’s complaint, a case was filed at the neighborhood police station, in which six people were named as suspects, along with 10 other suspects, including two women.

According to the police, the case was reported under ten separate sections. The majority of the accused are presently at large, according to the police. In the most recent development, the Faisalabad police used technology to arrest six nominated people on CPO Umar Saeed’s orders. The main suspect Danish, the housekeeper Maham, and the security officers Khan Muhammad, Shoaib, Faizan, and Asghar were all detained. Police informed the media that raids were being carried out to apprehend Ana Ali, another suspected person. CPO Umar Saeed promised to bring all of the offenders to justice.

Approximately 34,000 women across Pakistan, excluding Balochistan, filed complaints about various violations in the previous year, according to government data. According to data provided to The News, the majority of rape crimes in the nation occurred in Punjab, whereas cases involving the burning and honor killing of women arose from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afzal Shigri, a former IGP for Sindh, outlined to this correspondent the reasons for the rise in violence against women, saying that women are asserting their rights and challenging male supremacy because of increasing education and knowledge, which is running up against societal norms.

Punjab received the most complaints in 2021, accounting for up to 71 percent of all complaints received by the authorities nationwide in Pakistan. In the same year, 6,842 incidents in Sindh were recorded to the Women Protection Cell, compared to 2,766 complaints from women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Punjab Commission on the Status of Women received a total of 540 complaints from women in the past year about criminal offenses like rape, murder, and kidnapping, 1,939 complaints about property inheritance, and 3,481 cases of domestic violence, 3,571 complaints of harassment, and 1,790 complaints about family issues. There were 12,975 additional complaints made by women in Punjab about their health and education.
