Maulana Yousaf Jamil, the older son of the well-known religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, has officially stated that his brother, Asim Jamil, took his own life due to intense struggles with depression.
Asim Jamil, who was the son of the renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, passed away in the town of Talamba in Punjab on a Sunday evening. Initially, there were suspicions of foul play, but Tariq Jamil used social media to clarify that it was indeed an ‘accidental death.’ In a video message, Maulana Yousaf Jamil revealed that his brother had been grappling with severe depression from a very young age and had been undergoing electroconvulsive therapy as part of his treatment.
He also shared that despite continuous efforts to assist Asim Jamil, his mental health had deteriorated significantly over the past six months. Maulana Yousaf Jamil went on to say that while his brother was at home alone on Sunday, he stole a gun from the security guard and killed himself.
He disregarded the idea that there was hate due to his brother’s passing. According to Multan Sohail Chaudhary, a Regional Police Officer (RPO), Maulana Asim Jamil was shot in the chest. The son of a religious scholar can be seen shooting himself in the chest on the CCTV tape, he continued. The deceased was at the gymnasium when he passed away, according to RPO Multan.
