Uber Operation Discontinued in 5 Major Cities

App for hailing cabs Tuesday saw the announcement by Uber that it would no longer be running its app in Karachi, Multan, Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Islamabad.

According to a statement on the company’s website, Uber is dedicated to Pakistan. We will continue to operate the Uber app in Lahore and continue to serve these five cities via our subsidiary brand Careem. To help earners through these difficult times, the company claimed it will continue to provide its services in Lahore while also launching new products. It promised to inform its customers and business partners in the five cities how to utilize Careem and make the switch smoothly.

The statement said that when they purchased Careem, it was always our view that the two firms could come together to complement one another’s capabilities and improve the region’s experiences through personalized services. The company stated that its teams were going through a “difficult phase” but praised them for their amazing effort in building this company over the previous few years. The impact on our staff, drivers, passengers, and Hero partners who use the Uber app in Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, and Peshawar during this transformation will be our priority, according to the statement.

2020 saw the $3.1 billion completion of Uber’s acquisition of Careem, a competitor. At the time, it was said that Careem and Uber will continue to operate as distinct businesses and provide their regional services. After the purchase was completed, Uber acquired Careem’s mobility, delivery, and payments operations throughout the larger Middle East, including its most important markets, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Careem announced later today that it would keep providing services to consumers in Pakistan’s 10 operational cities. They are making investments to expand their business and offer their consumers mobility solutions that are safer, more dependable, and more accessible.

They are committed to their goal of making life in the nation simpler and better. They have a strong commitment to the Super App goal, and a flourishing ride-hailing industry is essential to that ambition. Along with the other five cities in which they are active, Careem continues to service consumers in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, and Peshawar with confidence, it read.

Don’t call them captains my friends make fun of me, Court temporarily restricts Careem from calling its drivers ‘captains’ over plea of a ‘real captain’

The statement continued that they have spent over $100 million, created over 800,000 income possibilities for Captains in Pakistan, and have over 9 million registered Customers on our Super App since our debut in 2016, claiming that Careen was the forerunner of ride-hailing in Pakistan.
