In an Israeli airstrike on December 18 in the Gaza Strip, Nagham Marwan Abu Samra, a 24-year-old Palestinian karate champion, suffered severe injuries, including the amputation of her right leg.
The strike targeted her family’s residence in the Al Nuseirat neighborhood, resulting in the tragic loss of her sister. Currently unconscious with a head injury, Nagham is in the Intensive Care Unit at Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al Balah, Central Gaza, where she is fighting for her life.
Following the destruction of their home, Nagham’s father and two brothers have been forced to live in their car. Despite the challenging circumstances, Nagham, who achieved first place in the Palestinian Karate Championship in 2017 and secured second place in 2019, was known for her passion for karate. She even established a gym that offered karate classes for girls. Additionally, she had aspirations of pursuing both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physical education.
