Supreme Court dismisses Customs’ appeal against the Czech model

Czech model Tereza Hluskova, who was held in heroin smuggling case, received relief from the Supreme Court, which dismissed an appeal filed by the Customs Department to prevent the model from flying out of the country.

On Thursday, the case was heard by a three-judge Supreme Court bench led by Justice Ijazul Ahsan.

During the hearing, Justice Ahsan asked the Customs’ lawyer if the sample of heroin recovered from the Czech model’s possession was sent to a laboratory for testing as required by law.

According to the counsel, the trial court that convicted Ms Hluskova ruled that the sample shipping was correct. On April 23, the model wished to return to the Czech Republic, he told the court. He asked the court to order the authorities to place her name on a no-fly list.

If there was a case, Justice Ahsan stated that the court would issue an order.

In its decision, the Supreme Court confirmed the Lahore High Court’s acquittal of the model and dismissed the Customs appeal.

Czech model restrained from leaving Pakistan by Supreme Court

Ms Hluskova was condemned to prison for importing drugs by a trial court but was later discharged by LHC.

The Customs Department filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, requesting with the court prevent Ms Hluskova from flying overseas on April 23.

It’s worth noting that Ms Hluskova was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison by a sessions court in April of this year.

On January 10, 2018, the Czech model was arrested at Lahore airport for attempting to carry heroin from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi.

In November of last year, she was acquitted by the court and released from prison.
