In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the city, a man allegedly opened fire on his own daughter and her alleged boyfriend, resulting in the death of both victims. The incident occurred in Bakhar Goth, near Abul Hasan Isfahani Road in the Sachal area of Karachi.
The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Laraib and a young man named Hasan. According to the Station House Officer (SHO) Zahid Hussain, initial investigations have pointed towards the girl’s father, Dr. Rafiq Sheikh, and his son as the perpetrators of this tragic double murder.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday at approximately 5:20 a.m. Laraib and Hasan were seated in a Revo jeep parked outside Laraib’s residence. Around 6:00 a.m., the father and brother of the girl allegedly spotted Laraib inside the vehicle. Without hesitation, they retrieved a firearm and began firing at the jeep. The hail of bullets left Laraib injured, and Hasan lost his life on the spot. Instead of seeking immediate medical attention, Dr. Rafiq Sheikh decided to take his injured daughter home, where Laraib tragically succumbed to her injuries due to severe bleeding.
In his preliminary statement to the police, Dr. Rafiq Shaikh admitted that his family hailed from Larkana. He claimed to have questioned his daughter about her relationship with the boy prior to the incident, but her responses were reportedly unsatisfactory. The father also stated that his daughter had been frequently staying out late into the night. On the illfated Friday morning, he reportedly waited for them, and as the jeep entered the street, they were intercepted and the tragic incident unfolded.
Hasan, a resident of Gulshan Iqbal, was employed at a car showroom and also attended a coaching center where he was friends with Laraib. A case has been registered against the accused, Dr. Rafiq Sheikh, and his two sons based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Ahsan. The SHO informed that the accused’s sons are currently evading authorities and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend them.
