Skardu Inaugurates Training School for Mountain Climbers in the memory Ali Sadpara

On the eve of World Mountains Day, a training facility for aspiring mountaineers was opened in Skardu’s Sadpara village.

In honor of renowned mountaineer Ali Sadpara, the Sadpara Mountaineering and Adventure Institute were officially opened by Commander Force Command Northern Areas Maj Gen Kashif Khalil. The ceremony was attended by Raja Nasir Ali Khan, the GB Tourism Minister, the Baltistan Commissioner, the Baltistan DIG, as well as numerous local mountaineers, porters, students, and foreign tourists.

According to the minister, this would be Pakistan’s top climbing and adventure school. He stated that three climbing schools were also being created in the area and claimed that prominent climbers from around the world will train locals freely at the college. Maj Gen Khalil claimed the army will assist the local talent while speaking at the event. He said that gifted local mountaineers would receive financial support, as well as support for the children of those who gave their lives on summits. The demonstration was planned in support of the Pakistan Army and the government of the United Kingdom.

The purpose of the event, according to the organizers, was to examine the potential for adventure tourism in the area. Dawn was informed by Sajid Sadpara that the village of Sadpara was referred to as the “mountain heroes of the world.” He said that the village gave birth to climbers who were well-known around the world, including his late father Ali Sadpara, Hasan Sadpara, Nisar Sadpara, and others. Sons of our village have broken records on the highest mountains in the world despite having few resources, he continued.

Five of the world’s fourteen eight-thousands are found in Great Britain, including the second-highest peak in the world, K2 (8,611 meters), which is followed in height by Nanga Parbat (9th), 8,126 meters, Gasherbrum-I (11th), 8,080 meters, Broad Peak (12th), and Gasherbrum-II (13th at 8,035m). This year, as many as 1,400 mountaineers from all over the world came to the area to climb several peaks.
