Sidra Ameen Breaks Record against Ireland

At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, Muneeba Ali hit her first century and Sidra Amin scored a career-high 176 not out as Pakistan crushed Ireland by 128 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ICC Women’s Championship ODI series.

Muneeba and Sidra set a record 221 runs for the first wicket, breaking their previous 158-run stand against Sri Lanka earlier this year at the Southend Club in Karachi. Bismah’s choice to bat first after winning the toss paid off right away.

Off 214 balls, left-handed Muneeba and right-handed Sidra combined for 221 runs. In the 33rd over of the innings, Muneeba scored her first century off 108 balls. She finally got out for 114 balls and 107 runs, including 10 fours and 2 sixes. Aliya Riaz, who had been moved up in the order, joined Sidra, and the two of them combined for 97 runs off 67 balls for the second wicket. After making 29 off 28 balls, including two fours and a six, Aliya went back to the hut. Sadaf Shamas, a debutante, was the third to depart after being bowled by Arlene Kelly for a six-ball three, joining Muneeba and Aliya.

Sidra, who entered this match with a record of two centuries and four half-centuries from 48 games, recorded the highest individual score for Pakistan with a score of 176. Her undefeated innings, which lasted 151 balls and featured 20 fours and one six, helped the home team surpass their previous total of 280 against Ireland by scoring 335 for three. In response, the visitors were dismissed for 207 in the final over while needing to score a huge 336 runs to win. Laura Delany, the captain of Ireland, scored the most goals. The right-handed batsman hit six extra-long balls and totaled 69 points off 92 balls. The highest partnership of the innings—a 69-run combination—was forged by Delany and Orla Prendergast (29, 45b, two fours).

The most effective bowler for Pakistan was the off-spinner Nida Dar, who claimed three wickets for 34 runs. Both Fatima Sana and Nashra Sundhu, who was playing in her 50th ODI, claimed two wickets. Aliya and Kainat Imtiaz, two all-rounders with fast bowling, each claimed a wicket. Sidra was honored as the game’s top player for her incredible century. On Sunday, November 6, the second ODI at the same location will feature Pakistan and Ireland. The toss will occur at 9:00 and the game will be broadcast live on the PCB YouTube channel. Ireland lost to Pakistan by 128 runs. (Sidra Amin 176 not out, Muneeba Ali 107, Aliya Riaz 29; Arlene Kelly 2-62) Pakistan 335-3 in 50 overs. After 49.3 overs, Ireland was all out (Laura Delany 69, Orla Prendergast 29; Nida Dar 3-34, Fatima Sana 2-24, Nashra Sundhu 2-40). Sidra Amin won the game’s MVP award (Pakistan).
