Sarfaraz Ahmed Fined for ‘Use of loud profanity’ on ground

Sarfaraz Ahmed of Sindh was fined 30% of the match fee on Friday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium for breaking the PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel at level 1 during his team’s Kingdom Valley National T20 Cup 2022-23 match against Balochistan.

Sarfaraz was accused of breaking Article 2.3, which is known as the “Use of loud profanity.” He was fired during the incident, which happened in the first innings of the game.

Sarfaraz acknowledged the allegations and consented to the punishments imposed by match referee Nadeem Arshad, therefore there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was brought by the on-field umpires Mohammad Asif and Imtiaz Iqbal, third umpire Rashid Riaz, and fourth umpire Nasir Hussain. Balochistan defeated Sindh by five wickets thanks to Shan Masood’s half-century.

The Kingdom Valley National T20 Cup 2022-23 begins in Rawalpindi on August 30, 2022, and features some of Pakistan’s top local white-ball players. The 33-match competition serves as the season opener for men’s domestic cricket in 2022–23, and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (first-class) and Pakistan Cup will follow (one day). Two legs of the Kingdom Valley National T20 Cup 2022–2023 will be contested. The first 16 games will take place in Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium until September 7; following that, the action will transfer to Multan Cricket Stadium, where the remaining games will be performed between September 10 and September 19.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the defending champions, will enter the competition under the leadership of Khalid Usman with the goal of securing a hat-trick of championships after winning the 2020–21 and 2021–22 editions. They started their season on August 31 against Central Punjab and have won 15 of their last 24 games. There is a little pressure when you are defending the title, but happily, we have a fantastic unit that has all the potential to complete the job, Khalid Usman said on Monday. The team has a wonderful environment. I want my guys to play bold, confident cricket and to give it their all. Young cricket players in our area have benefited much from the new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province structure, CCA, and divisional cricket.

Balochistan enters the competition with confidence after capping off the previous campaign by taking home the Pakistan Cup. Balochistan hasn’t advanced past the quarterfinals of the tournament since they competed in the 2019–20 edition’s final, and Yasir Shah’s team will try to change that when they take on Central Punjab on the first day of the competition. Last season, Iftikhar Ahmed’s lightning-quick 19-ball 45 not out in the championship match prevented Central Punjab from losing to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Lahore. After failing to advance to the semifinals in the 2019–20 and 2020–21 editions, it was the first time the team reached the championship game. They are led by all-rounder Faheem Ashraf this year.
