The former Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot at and wounded in what appeared to be an assassination attempt on November 3rd (Thursday) evening when a suspect standing in front of the container carrying the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief and senior party leaders fired a hail of bullets from an automatic pistol as the party’s “Haqeeqi Azadi” march approached Wazirabad’s Allahwala Chowk.
Following the incident, it was discovered that PTI supporter Muazzam Nawaz had passed away. Meanwhile, 14 party officials, including Senator Faisal Javed Khan, MNA Ahmad Nasir Chattha, and Omer Mayar, were among the injured.
Following several gunshot wounds to his leg, Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, was reportedly in stable condition and sent to the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in Lahore. Other injured people were sent to nearby hospitals for prompt care. Pellets were extracted from Mr. Khan’s leg and shin during surgery. The PTI chairman later claimed to be in good health following his procedure in Shaukat Khanum and underlined his determination to see the long march through to Islamabad. He was quoted by PTI official media as saying, “I will not bow down, but stay committed to bringing Haqeeqi Azadi for my fellow Pakistanis,” and that the march would resume from Wazirabad at 11 a.m. on Friday (today).
After the attack on PTI chairman Imran Khan, journalist Saleem Safi took to Twitter to share ISPR’s statement. He tweeted, “ISPR spokesperson of Pakistan forces condemned firing on Imran Khan’s march”
