Punjab Authorities Take Decisive Action: Closure of Schools Implemented

In response to the escalating winter weather, Mohsin Naqvi, the interim Chief Minister of Punjab, has opted to shut down primary schools for a week, according to ARY News.

Noticing a concerning rise in pneumonia cases, the caretaker CM has chosen to prolong the winter break for nursery, grade-I, and prep classes. Additionally, there is contemplation within the government to delay examinations throughout the province by one month. In light of the severe cold wave affecting Punjab, the interim government recently revised school timings. Chief Minister Naqvi made this decision as thick fog enveloped different areas of Punjab when the temperature fell below the usual average.

In a recent statement, the Chief Minister declared that starting January 10, 2024, classes will begin at 9:30 am. Due to the prevailing winter conditions, schools are set to reopen on the 10th of January 2024. During the period from the 10th to the 22nd of January, school hours will commence at 9:30 am, as mentioned by Naqvi. The Chief Minister also encouraged students to dress warmly by wearing jackets and suitable winter clothing, emphasizing the increasing severity of the winter season.
