PTI Warned Against Any Damage to Hockey Ground Ahead of August 13 Jalsa

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a warning to the PTI in advance of its public event on August 13 in the National Hockey Stadium, warning it to exercise caution and prevent any damage to the venue.

The hockey ground is getting a new AstroTurf, and the PTI has announced its ‘power show’ there tomorrow. The deputy commissioner is required by the high court to decide based on requests to move the meeting location. Additionally, it stated that choosing the location for the public gathering was the responsibility of the higher authorities.

The party has been told by the LHC not to do any ground damage. The Punjab government should install the Astroturf as quickly as possible, and money should be set aside in the budget, the court ruled. Attaullah Tarar, the special assistant to the prime minister, filed a court case protesting the PTI’s jalsa on August 13. Punjab’s chief minister, Pervaiz Elahi, gave the order to clear the ground so that the public event could take place. The Pakistan Hockey Federation claimed that the old turf should have been taken out after the new one arrived in this regard.

Azhar Mashwani, the PTI’s point man, announced on Monday that the party has changed the location of its ‘Haqeeqi Azadi jalsa’ on August 13 from Islamabad’s Parade Ground to the Lahore Hockey Ground. Imran Khan, the party’s chairman, said in a statement that the decision was decided by chairman Imran Khan at a meeting today. He added that the party had learned about the federal government’s ‘insufficient’ plans for Independence Day celebrations before making the decision.

Mashwani claimed that the former premier would speak to the crowd at the gathering. Separately, PTI said that it would observe Independence Day “in a big style” in Lahore in a message on its official Twitter account. In the meantime, PTI leader Omar Ayub said during a press conference at Bani Gala earlier in the day that party members had visited the Liaquat National Bagh and the Pindi Cricket Stadium. We were informed that although the plantation was taking place in the park, the stadium had just received new pitches.

The PTI leader had stated on Sunday that he would present a plan to ‘fight this fascism’ at the gathering on August 13. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah warned the PTI of the ‘worst repercussions’ if its upcoming rally descended into violence during a press conference earlier in the day.
