Princess Kate Attends the Earthshot Prize Awards with Princess Diana’s Emerald Choker

Through her stunning appearance at Friday night’s Earthshot Prize Awards, Catherine, Princess of Wales, paid tribute to the late Princess Diana.

The princess opted for a vivid, mint-green off-the-shoulder gown by Solace London, which she borrowed from the British platform HURR, for the final engagement of her and Prince William’s busy Boston tour. She accessorized the stunning outfit with a unique piece that belonged to her late mother-in-law, an emerald and diamond choker necklace. When Diana joined the royal family, the Queen gave her the green choker, which she had previously acquired from her grandmother Queen Mary after she passed away in 1953. Diana last wore the diamond and emerald choker on her 36th birthday.

Following Diana’s nuptials to Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth gave her priceless jewelry. The late princess famously wore the item as a headband during the duo’s 1985 Australia tour. A teal-green one-shoulder ball gown with a drop-waist and a huge bow adornment was worn with it. Diana used the accessory once more, this time with a bright green column gown with wrap details and a subdued off-the-shoulder style, for a 1993 engagement at the Dorchester Hotel. The Prince and Princess of Wales’ three-day journey, which was their first trip to the United States since 2014, came to an end with Kate’s stunning appearance for the Friday night awards presentation.

Several stunning suits were worn by the princess during the tour, including a chic all-navy outfit for the couple’s arrival at Boston’s Logan International Airport and a wine-colored suit coupled with a pink pussy-bow shirt for a stop at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Along with visiting Harvard’s Center on the Developing Child, which has ties to Kate’s The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Kate also went alone. The princess wore a striking black and blue houndstooth midi dress by Emilia Wickstead along with gold Liv Thurlwell hoops and black suede heels from Gianvito Rossi.
