Pink Toilets Project: A Sanitary Revolution Coming to South Punjab

A scheme called “Pink Toilets,” originally intended for installation in public areas alongside highways in Bahawalpur, has now expanded to government buildings throughout South Punjab.

The last stage of the project includes the construction of 433 restrooms within local government structures, which have been meticulously tailored for the use of working women and guests. This represents a significant stride in the promotion of gender equality and the provision of support to women. Captain (R) Saqib Zafar, the Additional Chief Secretary for South Punjab, supervised the initiative’s launch at the South Punjab Secretariat.

The initiative was initiated by Engineer Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen, who serves as the Secretary of Services for South Punjab. While addressing the event’s participants, he revealed that a survey had been conducted to identify the optimal locations for these facilities and shared this announcement. By November 9, the administrations of the three divisions are expected to have completed the project. According to him, the project is evidence of the management’s commitment to promoting women’s welfare and reflects the dedication to the goal of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for women in the workforce.
