According to a report on Geo News, the student who came from Shaheed Benazirabad and took first place in last year’s intermediate exams was “not a college student.”
The exam results raised suspicion after media stories highlighted “the influential” student’s records. Saif Ali, according to later sources, was the son of a man in charge of a political party’s security, and the college administration was under pressure to update its records.
In contrast, during a phone call with Geo News, Dr. Farooq Hasan, the chairman of the Nawabshah board, refuted these claims. According to him, Ali has been a student at Government College Nawabshah since 2021, and the board has manual and digital documents to show that he is not a fraudster. The college principal accepted the prize on the student’s behalf because he was not present when it was given out.
Ismail Rahoo, the minister responsible for universities and boards, has established a three-person committee to look into the matter.

The three-person group, which will conduct its investigation and provide a report to the department within 14 days, will be led by the additional secretary of the Universities Department. Legal action will be taken against the board chairman and any other officers who are discovered to have participated in the investigation.
