Passenger Bus Loses Control and Crashes at Kallar Kahar, Killing 14

At least 14 people were killed and 63 people were hurt after a speeding passenger bus drove off a highway and overturned in eastern Pakistan, according to police and government officials.

According to Quratulain Malik, a deputy commissioner, the accident happened overnight close to the town of Kallar Kahar in Punjab Province. All of the deceased and injured, she claimed, had been sent to a hospital. Police stated that they were still looking into the cause, but the official gave no other information. In a statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his sincere sadness and sorrow over the deaths caused by the collision and commanded officials to give the injured patients the best care possible.

Last month in the Lasbela district of Balochistan, a bus crashed and caught fire last month, killing over 40 people. Authorities have filed a “negligence” and “irresponsible driving” complaint against the bus’s owners. According to the information provided, the case was reported to Bela police station under the Station House Officer’s (SHO) complaint as an instance of attempted murder, negligence, duress, reckless driving, and endangering life. Despite the bus’s technical issues, the bus proprietors told the driver to dispatch it, the first information report (FIR) claims.

The bus in question had already been prohibited from operating as a result of over-speeding, it was added. The bus continually stumbled while the passenger was on board, and when the driver was asked to fix the bus, he said that the owner had told him to keep going. On Sunday, the unfortunate bus crashed into a ravine and caught fire, leaving at least 41 passengers dead and numerous others injured. The bus, which was traveling from Quetta to Karachi and was carrying about 48 passengers, ran into a pillar on the bridge and veered off course. The number of fatalities increased because it was challenging to get everyone out of the bus because of the fire.

The Express Tribune was informed by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Lasbela Hamza Anjum that 41 dead bodies, some of whom had been charred beyond recognition, had been retrieved by rescuers from the debris. The 38 accident victims’ bodies were taken to Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, where DNA tests would be utilized to determine who they are. The administration handed over three bodies after they were recognized by family members. According to AFP, the bus was laden down with oil container storage, according to Asghar Ramazan, head of the local rescue agency. He claimed that the bus caught fire right away after it crashed.

He said, “The oil caused the fire to flare up so much that it was difficult to contain.” Anjum stated, “There is concern that the driver may have slept off, or he may have been driving too fast during the lengthy trip. We’ll investigate the accident’s cause,” he said.
