In 2025, Pakistan’s first “domestic” electric car manufacturer, Jaxeri Automotive (Pvt.) Ltd. intends to introduce a compact SUV that is entirely electric.
According to a recent update from Automark Magazine, Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, the chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), paid a visit to the automaker’s regional Research and Development (R&D) facility. The company updated the PEC chairman on the latest developments in the auto industry during the meeting. The chairman was also informed about the development of a tiny SUV that is entirely electric.
Corporate representatives also mentioned the local design and production of the SUV. They stated that the current launch date for the SUV in Pakistan is 2025. On August 14, 2022, Jaxeri unveiled a prototype of the electric hatchback Nur-E 75 in Pakistan. The DICE Foundation, a Pakistani-run NGO with offices in the US, created the prototype. The compact EV aimed to gain ground in the market for compact cars. The top speed of Nur-E’s single electric motor, rated at 107 HP and 200 Nm, is 127 KPH.
The company claims that the 35 KWh battery will provide a range of 200 KM. While a quick charge takes just two hours, a conventional charge takes 7-8 hours. Last year, the Chairman of the DICE Foundation told the media that the commercial manufacturing of the Nur-E 75 would begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with about 60% of its parts coming from domestic suppliers. However, due to Pakistan’s economic trajectory, the prices of cars at that time are expected to skyrocket even further.
