Cricketer Yasir Shah booked for abetting rape

Pakistani cricketer Yasir Shah, was arrested in the federal capital on Monday for reportedly harassing a girl and abetting rape.

Yasir Shah is a Pakistani cricketer who has represented his country at the international level. He is a bowler who is the joint-second fastest bowler in Test cricket history to take 100 wickets, as well as the fastest to take 200 wickets, breaking the previous record set by Australian bowler Clarrie Grimmett.

A woman has filed a complaint with the Shalimar Police Station against the right-arm bowler. Following the filing of an FIR, police have begun an inquiry into the case.

The woman alleged that a friend of Shah had raped her while holding a gun to her head and videotaped it. According to the FIR, the national cricketer and his companion threatened her with sharing the footage on social media, and Yasir Shah allegedly threatened to implicate her in the case if she informed the police.

When the victim reached out to Shah on Twitter to discuss her ordeal, he responded, “I enjoy teenage girls and also warned me [the victim] of harsh repercussions,” according to the FIR.

PCB stated that “We have noted that some allegations have been leveled against one of our Centrally Contracted players. The PCB is presently gathering information at its end and will only offer a comment when in possession of complete facts”.

Yasir Shah has not yet responded to the claims.

His fans are showing anger while a few are shocked on FIR copy that is circulating on social media as well.
