More than twenty medals, including seven gold ones, were won by Pakistani competitors at the South Asian Karate Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2022.
Irshad Ali won two gold medals in the U-21 and senior divisions, while Pakistan also took home the third gold by defeating an Indian player. Mah Gul took home the gold in the -61 division, while Humayun won the gold in the -60 division by defeating an Indian competitor. In the 84 kg category, Mubarak Ali overcame an Indian rival to win Pakistan’s seventh gold medal. In addition, Pakistan brought home 11 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.
A Pakistani competitor won the gold at the South Asian Karate Championship, which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ali outperformed his Indian opponent and won the U-21 division championship by defeating him. He also took home gold in a different division during this competition. With Saifullah’s gold medal in his category, Pakistan now has three gold medals overall. In the junior women’s karate competition, Arzoo, a female competitor, won silver. Pakistani sportsmen brought home eight medals from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, earlier this year, including two gold ones.
