Naseem Shah to Miss the Rest of T20 Series against England thanks to Pneumonia

Doctors’ confirmation that the young Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah has pneumonia and will be hospitalized has forced him to withdraw from the rest of the T20 International series against England.

The 19-year-old was scheduled to play in the fifth T20I, but he was admitted to the hospital late Tuesday night after complaining of coughing, breathing problems, and chest pain. The Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Wednesday that the medical team that would be keeping track of Naseem’s recovery will also recommend whether or not he should compete in a three-nation tournament in New Zealand that comes after the World Cup. Naseem only participated in the first game of the seven-game series against England in Karachi before taking a break for the following three games.

The medical panel has determined that Naseem has pneumonia, and they are currently keeping an eye on him. They will determine whether he will continue to play in games and travel with the squad to New Zealand, according to the PCB. As pneumonia affects the lungs, it may take four to six weeks to recover. Patients who recover from pneumonia are known to continue to experience fatigue and exhaustion for up to three months after they have stopped experiencing symptoms. Both Shaheen and Naseem have been selected for Pakistan’s World Cup squad, and Naseem will accompany the group to New Zealand. The length of time it takes for a patient to fully recover from pneumonia, according to medical experts, depends on how quickly they can resume their regular activities.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s top fast bowler who has been out since mid-July with a knee injury and is currently receiving treatment in the UK, is already absent from the team. Despite still being treated for a knee ailment, he has begun bowling. The 22-year-old has begun bowling while in the UK receiving treatment for a knee injury he suffered during the first Test between the Green Shirts and Sri Lanka. The left-arm pacer quickly uploaded a video of himself bowling with a short run-up. The speedster posted a video of himself bowling following the injury on Twitter. Shaheen tweeted that prosperity belongs to Allah, not the mentality.
