Former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has been appointed as the Chief Selector of the national squad by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee.
According to media reports, he will likely take up the role after the current two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Recently, there have been rumors that Hafeez was offered the position of chief selector for the national team by Zaka Ashraf.
An important meeting was held with former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez by the freshly appointed interim chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board to consider the offer of becoming chief selector. As per reports, Hafeez has asked for a period to contemplate the proposal and hasn’t confirmed acceptance due to his current commitments.
Besides Hafeez, there have been rumors circulating about the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) extending job offers to several other cricketers such as Younis Khan, Mohsin Khan, Saleem Yousuf, and Shoaib Akhtar. Earlier this month, Ashraf was officially named the chairman of the recently formed management committee by the federal government.
Following the distribution of a summary, this appointment gave the 10-member committee a four-month mandate to oversee the PCB’s functioning.
