Season 3 of the hit action crime thriller series Mirzapur has been confirmed by Amazon Prime Video, much to the surprise of all Mirzapur fans.
As part of Amazon Prime Video’s recent #SeeWhereItTakesYou reveal event, The Family Man, Mumbai Diaries, and Breathe: Into the Shadows, have all gotten a lot of attention.
The one and only Mirzapur, the crime thriller series from Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna, is one of the most significant shows to earn formal confirmation.
Mirzapur fans may breathe a sigh of relief now that Amazon Prime has confirmed season 3 is in the works, after whispers and reports of another mission had been floating online for some time.
As part of their #SeeWhereItTakesYou reveal event on April 28th, Amazon Prime Video India revealed further details about their future streaming titles.
With the caption “WE ARE SCREAMINGGG!” the streaming giant said that Mirzapur will return to the OTT platform for season 3 as part of the announcement.
While the global Mirzapur community will rejoice at the official confirmation, many fans already knew that the series would return for a third season after season 2 ended in late 2020.
This was due to an Instagram post by actress Shweta Tripathi Sharma (who plays Gajgamini ‘Golu’ Gupta) shortly after the second season began, implying that a third season was on the way.
Then, a few months later, Amazon Prime Video India’s Head of India Originals Aparna Purohit revealed further details about Mirzapur’s legacy, telling FirstPost that “during the last two years, audiences continued to engage with the immersive universe of Mirzapur and its characters. The amount of affection they’ve shown the show this season has been incredible.”
