Kohli, Gambhir, Naveen Fined After aHeated Argument during the IPL

After their incident on Monday during the Indian Premier League game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were each fined 100% of their match money.

In contrast to Gambhir, who oversees LSG globally, Kohli is a batsman for RCB. The LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli had a verbal altercation as the two sides shook hands following the game, it should be mentioned. Gambhir then pulled his team’s starter Kyle Mayers away from a conversation with Kohli, which was immediately followed by a heated argument between the two. Spinner Amit Mishra had to step in and separate the pair because things had gotten out of hand.

For violating the tournament’s code of conduct, Naveen was also penalized 50% of his match fee. In a low-scoring match against LSG earlier, RCB’s bowlers shone to help their team win by 18 runs. Faf du Plessis, Bangalore’s captain, top-scored with 44 runs to lead Bangalore to 126-9, a total their bowlers successfully defended by dismissing Lucknow for 108 runs on a challenging batting surface. Virat Kohli took two excellent catches as Lucknow quickly fell to 38-5 after Bangalore pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj dismissed Kyle Mayers for a duck on the first ball of the chase.

Nicholas Pooran, who was on nine, and Marcus Stoinis, who was on thirteen, both lost their wickets to Karn Sharma’s leg-spin, and the innings saw two run outs, giving the impression that Lucknow’s batters were rushing to get runs. KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow, appeared to injure his thigh while fielding, hobbled away, and then entered the batting order last, dealing a blow to the team early on. Josh Hazlewood, an Australian fast bowler, made his season’s first IPL appearance, and he recorded statistics of 2-15 from his three overs. With five victories in nine games, Bangalore, which is still looking for their first IPL championship, climbed one spot to fifth in the 10-team standings. Lucknow slipped to third place.

The star-studded lineup put up a lackluster performance overall, but Du Plessis, who took over as captain after playing as a batter in the team’s previous matches under Kohli, helped Bangalore win with a knock that stood out. Despite a shaky start, Du Plessis and Kohli combined for 62 runs for the first wicket, but none of the other batters could withstand the Lucknow bowlers’ challenge.

Fast bowler from Afghanistan Naveen-ul-Haq had statistics of 3-30, while spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra both claimed two wickets. With his leg-spin, Bishnoi quickly removed Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli from the game (both were stumped for 31 and four runs, respectively). Soon after, Mishra and Naveen joined the fray in an innings that was briefly halted by a downpour.
