Jobless Doctor with 29 Medals thanks ‘Sifarish’ Culture

Having excelled in a variety of topics, Dr. Hafiz Waleed Malik, who received his MBBS last year, has won 29 gold medals. He has admitted, nevertheless, that he hasn’t yet secured employment in a hospital.

Dr. Malik stated in a recent Instagram reply to a question that he had applied to numerous hospitals but had not been successful in getting a position. Additionally, he claimed that sifarish rather than merit determines employment status. He submitted applications to more than 20 hospitals, but he did not succeed in securing a position. 90% of jobs are fraudulent, while 1% are legitimate. However, it is what he noticed, he could be mistaken. This system is beyond repair, and only merit should prevail, he had previously stated.

A screenshot of his narrative was quickly taken by someone and quickly went viral. In a BBC interview, Dr. Malik revealed that he earned his MBBS from Lahore’s Amiruddin Medical College last year and subsequently worked as a house doctor at the Lahore General Hospital. After he lost his housekeeping job, he began to apply to private hospitals. According to the 24-year-old, federal hospital hiring hadn’t yet begun. In response to a question on the recommendation culture in Pakistan that makes it difficult to get work in the medical industry, Dr. Malik said that typically, private hospitals rarely have job openings, and if they do occur, medical graduates are often hired based on recommendations from professors.

He believes that job acquisition through a reference is considered commonplace. The existence of reality is seen in this. It was also disclosed by him to BBC that the “sifarish culture” in the nation must be dealt with by both average students and top students.
