Hina Rabbani To Represent Govt. at the FIFA World Cup in Doha

According to The News on Saturday, which cited diplomatic sources in Doha, Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar is most likely to travel to Doha during the first week of December to attend the FIFA World Cup.

World leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who witnessed his nation’s team defeat Argentina’s champions in an incredible and unforgettable victory, attended the opening ceremony before the World Cup even started. The Foreign Office had already received invitations before the World Cup even started. Dates are still being determined, according to the sources.

The Qatari ambassador in Islamabad, Saoud Abdulrahman Al-Thani, also called Pakistan’s foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Thursday to offer an invitation from his Qatari counterpart to watch the World Cup. Sources claim that Pakistan felt compelled to show support for a fellow Muslim country that was hosting the world cup for the first time and was facing criticism for alleged human rights violations from some international capitals, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), and even the media. Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, was the first person to do so in a tweet.

Unfortunately, Qatar is under a propaganda onslaught due to its hosting of the FIFA World Cup. It deserves praise for making excellent preparations for the major event and for advancing world peace and development. HH Emir and the people of Qatar have the support of Pakistan, he stated. Alfred Grannas, the German ambassador in Islamabad, tweeted a brief image of a football created in Sialkot and exported for hundreds of thousands of rupees to the World Cup. He tweeted, “Every goal is a Pakistani goal.”

Pakistan is providing soccer balls with China for the FIFA World Cup, which is taking place in the winter this time around due to the scorching weather in the capital of Qatar. Adidas revealed the official match ball for the 2022 World Cup in March in Doha, giving it the Arabic name “Al-Rihla,” which means “The Journey.” Forward Sports, which also produces footballs for the French league, the German Bundesliga, and the Champions League, is located in the suburbs of the northeastern city of Sialkot and has produced Al-Rihla for the major event.

The business served as the official supplier of football for the World Cups in Brazil and Russia in 2014 and 2018, respectively. The city, which borders India, is well known for manufacturing the highest caliber sporting items and has historically provided footballs for major games. Football manufacturing is not Sialkot’s main strength. Additionally, it exports sporting items like hockey sticks, shiny (cricket and hockey) balls, and other equipment like kits, shoes, and gloves. Exports of sporting products bring in $1 billion annually for the nation, with footballs accounting for $350 million to $500 million of that total.

The tournament’s official soccer ball is referred to as “Thermo bonded,” and it was originally used in the 2014 World Cup. Earlier, from the 1990s to 2010, Pakistan provided hand-stitched soccer balls for the majority of World Cups. Thermo-bonded balls are created by heating the panels together and bonding them together. Adidas adopted this most recent technology in 2013 and gave it to Forward Sports. Stitches are absent.
