HEC issues list of unrecognised and illegitimate campuses

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has published a list of universities and higher education institutions in Pakistan that are illegal or unrecognised. HEC will not recognise the degrees of students enrolled in any degree programme at these institutions. As a result, students are advised not to apply to these schools

HEC acknowledges degrees from public and private sector chartered universities/higher education institutions (HEls) in Pakistan, as well as their designated campuses at certain locations listed on the HEC website.

It is possible to validate the status of colleges connected with public sector universities by contacting the appropriate universities. Private sector HEls are not permitted to award affiliation and are limited to operating through their accredited Main Campus and accredited campuses/sub-campuses with a HEC No Objection Certificate (NOC) as shown on the HEC website.

Students are advised not to enrol in any phoney, illegal/illegal, or unrecognised institution.

The list of fake, illegal and unrecognized institutions in Pakistan identified up till now is being published here and is also available on the HEC website at http://hec.gov.pk/site/illegal-DAls

Furthermore, any campus/sub-campus, college, branch, or outpost founded without HEC approval and not mentioned on the HEC website will be viewed as a massive fraud, illegitimate, unlawful, and unrecognised institution, and degrees earned at such institutions would not be recognised by HEC.

HEC will treat any other university/HEI that is not mentioned in the HEC Recognized Universities/Institutions/Campuses list and is operating illegally as a false, illegal, unlawful, and unrecognised institution.

Before seeking admission, it is recommended to check the recognition status of the university/institution or its campuses on the HEC website/regional offices for the greater good of the public and to protect the future of students. HEC will not recognise degrees earned from false, illegitimate, unlawful, or unrecognised institutions/campuses.
