Inspired by parents of a dyeing child who decided to donate their child’s organs, Punjab Health minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has announced that she will do the same.
“I am announcing to donate all my medically-fit organs after death,” Dr. Yasmin stated adding that saving one life is like saving entire humanity.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that “parents announcing to donate the organs of their child is a difficult decision especially when the child was on a ventilator counting his last breaths”.
“This is for the first time that parents have donated organs of their child on a deathbed,” Dr Yasmin Rashid stated.
She praised the institute where 70% of the transplants are without any charges. She also appreciated the courage of the people who donated organs.
“We have so far performed 140 liver transplants, 231 kidney transplants and 58,000 dialyses in a year at PKLI,” she stated.
The bone-marrow transplant project will start next year, according to the minister.She expressed her dissatisfaction with the former administration of the hospitals. According to Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Now the hospitals are being run in their true spirit to serve the people.
